About

Hello you beautiful thing, you!

I’m Krista and this is my health & wellness playground. I’ve had a long and sordid struggle with my health since I was a baby (read about that here) and have had a natural inclination to post – frequently – about health, nutrition, food, and fitness all over the internet for quite some time. Friends and family started putting in requests for me to write about specific topics, share recipes, and divulge my very best tips & tricks for living the healthiest life you can. So… here we go!

On a more personal level, I’m a former competitive synchronized swimmer (related health problem story here). I hold an MA in Anthropology with a concentration on food and movement. My thesis work was an investigation of contemporary Vinyasa Yoga communities in the West. I believe in the efficacy of functional movement and in using what data we have regarding ancestral nutrition + key ancestral lifestyle factors as the foundation for optimal health. I’m a certified Sports Nutritionist, heavy-weightlifting, burst training enthusiast and, of course, a practicing yogini. I believe that the body/mind connection is profound, and that sleep, touch, and play are vital to overall wellness.

I’ve lived in Toronto, Berlin, and Los Angeles, hold a BFA in Photography + Filmmaking, and yes, you got me… I’m an actor.

I hope you’ll join me as we talk about how to eat, move, nourish, & play more effectively in our quest to feel vibrant, energized, and super super sexy!

Disclaimer Numero Uno: I have a zero tolerance policy for internet trolls and meanies. I post based on my own experiences and my body of knowledge and if you don’t like it, the percentage of how much I care comes in a big old whopping 0. This is a positive space focused on empowering people to look beyond the accepted norms of nutrition and medical advice in order to better act as advocates for their own health. It’s not to say that my approach or thoughts are the only way or are superior to other ways (for the most part… just keepin’ it real here!), but rather to say, “Hey, look! This is an interesting approach that flies in the face of conventional ‘wisdom’. Maybe it’ll be of value to you… orrr maybe not…?!” So if you don’t like, just shimmy right along. If, however, you feel compelled to spam my blog with negative jabberwocky, I will absolutely ignore you. I am under no obligation to engage or respond. In fact, I’ll probably just hit ‘delete’ and, if necessary, I’ll block that shit. Why? Because this is my world and I am the Queen of the Paleogini Universe… and because I said so. Ain’t nobody got time for haters!

Disclaimer Numero Dos (the more serious of the two): The information provided on this blog or in any Paleogini videos or social media posts is not intended to provide medical advice and is for informational purposes only. The information provided is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always check in with a qualified and *open minded* health care provider before making any health, fitness, wellness, dietary changes or anything along those lines. In short, be responsible, friends!
